Sapphire blue, her timid eyes, like a child's, look up at me. I give her a warm smile, even as I'm torn on just what to think. Part of me believes her, every word, without question. Part of me finds it just too... fantastic. This is the stuff of legends, not life. But then... who's to say what legends or parts of legends are real, what's not? Over time and countless re-telling and the logic we think we possess, can we really know the whole truth anymore? If we can look around and see the miracles that surround us, why can't we accept the magical?
And though it is hard to believe, I do. I do believe her. Something about those beautiful eyes... I nod my head slowly, 'yes', and bring her hands up, to kiss each finger lightly. Everything about her enchants me. Everything about her has felt touched with an air of magic... from the moment we met. Is a Faerie lineage really so impossible to accept? Her sapphire eyes soften to sky as I move her hands to my heart. "I love you, Melody. And I can't think of anything that could change that fact. But sweet-heart, why so afraid to tell me?" "I was... I was always teased, Michael. I was always different, and everyone could... sense it. Even if they didn't know what it was, they did know that I was different." She pauses for a deep sigh, and softly continues, "When I started asking, learning about who and what I am, One thing that my parents told me ... 'they won't understand, they can't remember how to believe'... So I never told anyone. It became my own little secret masquerade, trying to act like a normal human being. And I'm not. I never was, never could be..." And as she speaks, it becomes so suddenly clear. She's never allowed herself to be completely open to anyone. And to let herself go, to open her heart up the way she has with me... it's so new, it's alien to her. And she feels a greater risk than I ever did. Teased since she was young, just because there is something different about her... (and it's that uniqueness that I fell in love with!)

We continue talking a while, still cuddled together on her sofa. I hold her in a protective embrace, wanting to shield her even from the cruelty of those who wounded her in the past. Like, if I can hold her close enough, her memories won't be able to hurt her any more. If I could somehow transmit all the love I feel for her, into her heart, there would be no room for the pain, it would have to leave her. I want to somehow erase all the insecurity, replaced with the knowing that I will always love her, that I could never hurt her...
And she gradually lets herself melt... trusting perhaps for the first time, completely. Letting the last of her masquerade fall away.

 Awww! That was wonderful  I absolutely adored it! I love this story, it's so different.. And plus, I LOVE faeries xD Update soon bb!

Time moves unnoticed. We stay there, connected in hearts, on Melody's sofa. She tells me old stories, passed through her family... Myths and legends that are her history. Describing branches of Faeriekind... Elves and Sprites, Nymphs and Pixies, Brownies and the Púca, and more... Her own line with traces of Pixie and Elf.
A quiet falls, and she affectionately nuzzles her face to my shoulder, I breathe in again that gentle touch of strawberry, and I smile deep contentment. I notice the same feeling carried on her soft sigh. "What.?." I casually ask "(mmmmn...) You smell good." She grins, "Like... warm vanilla sugar and a hint of nutmeg." "What a delicious couple we must be..." I murmur, feeling just a bit sleepy. "With you like a Summer day in a strawberry patch..." And Melody draws back in mild surprise... "You noticed that.?." "Of course" I reply, "how could I miss it?" She doesn't say anything for a long moment, but fixes me with her curious liquid gaze, piercing my eyes with hers, as if seeking some hidden clue. A light glows in the liquid blue, and more to herself than to me, she concludes "Not as prominent, but it's there... I should have guessed." "Guessed what.?." "I mean, it should have been obvious! It explains a few things..." she continues, as if she hadn't heard me "What.?." I press, my curiosity pushing the slight sleepy away. "A bit of Elf... somewhere in the line." And I am struck utterly speechless...

"..What.?. Melody I..." I begin, incredulous
"No really. Think about it, Michael." She insists. "I mean, you've got this gift, this enormous talent that rivals all others. And it comes natural, even from a very early age, right? You said it comes easy, almost like breathing. Your voice is... Ethereal, otherworldly..." she analyzes, "and the way you move, dear-heart, it defies all natural laws! "And you told me... you're sensitive, more than most. You have this connection with animals and such a love for the natural world. Your affinity for the in-between times, twilight, between night and day... It all makes sense, love!" "But wait... where is this coming from all of a sudden?" "Summer strawberries" she giggles. "No one, outside of my family ever noticed it. And... the way you smell. Let me guess... No cologne, right?" "Well, no... but.?. But no one else has ever said..." "Yeah, probably not. You might be the only one. Or maybe one sibling. Would I be right to say that you feel even family doesn't understand you completely?" "Only my mother. And to some extent, Janet." I say slowly "It's not a lot, sweetie, but it is there. It's in your eyes, too, but veiled. I had to know to look for it." "Veiled... you mean hidden.?. But how? I didn't even know there was something to hide..." "Yeah you did. Well, sort of. Your shyness. You avoid eye contact, like I do so much. And you don't really reveal a lot of yourself to strangers, do you?" I shake my head 'no', and she continues "Subconsciously, you're protecting a part of yourself. But you surround yourself with those things you love... animals, trees, and some element of magic..." My heart pounds at her words. Is that why we were drawn to eachother? Two magical beings, an attraction of Faerie lines? "So... what, what does this all mean.?." I sak, struggling to wrap my mind around it all... "What do you mean?" "Well, if this is all true, that there is... if I have some Elf in me.?. What do I do? How do I ... I don't know, use this.?." "You just keep doing what you do, sweetie!" she almost laughs. "It's just part of who you are, nothing has changed, really. Your music, your dancing... just keep doing like you always do! Let the music flow, let the dance happen, keep sharing your gift with the word."
