UPDATED: Trial Testimony Update - Tuesday Print E-mail

MJ(11-10-2011) In day 10 of the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, jurors heard the remaining portion of the doctor's two-hour interview with LAPD detectives, recorded two days after Michael Jackson's death.

Among the highlights of the approximately 45-minute long playback were:

- Murray says he was told by various members of Jackson's production team that after Jackson made visits to Dr. Arnold Klein's office in Beverly Hills he would be "basically wasted" and need 24 about hours to recover. Said Jackson would visit Klein's office about three times a week.

 - Murray said he treated many health conditions for Jackson since 2007, including painful foot calluses that built up from years of heavy dancing, pneumonia and various upper respiratory ailments. He also said he worried about Jackson's bad eyesight and wondered if he could be "legally blind." Says he made an appointment for Jackson to see an opthalmologist.

 - Murray said Jackson's children reacted to the news of their father's death with lots of sobbing. Said Paris Jackson exclaimed, "I will wake up in the morning, and I won't be able to see my daddy."

In other testimony Tuesday, a startling autopsy photo of Michael Jackson was shown in court while the doctor who performed the autopsy told jurors that it would have been nearly impossible for Jackson to have given himself a lethal dose of propofol in the small two minut time frame Murray says he was out of the room.

"The circumstances from my point of view do not support self administration of propfol," said Los Angeles Deputy Medical Examiner Christopher Rogers.

"In order for Mr. Jackson to administer the propofol to himself, you have to believe that he... woke up, although he was at least to some extent under the influence of other sedatives, he was able to administer propofol to himself," Rogers said.

Rogers testified that Jackson's death is a homicide and that he died of acute propofol intoxication with a contributing effect from two sedatives also found in Jackson's system: lorazepam and midazolam.

Rejecting the defense argument that Jackson took the drug while Murray was out of the room, Rogers indicated that it was more likely that Murray accidentally overdosed Jackson.

"The ultimate scenario would be in order to keep Mr. Jackson asleep, the doctor has to give a little bit [of propofol] from time to time, which, in this case is going to add up to two or three tablespoons per hour to keep him asleep," Rogers said. "Now we did not find any precision dosing device which means that essentially the doctor would be estimating how much propofol he was giving to come up with two to three tablespoons per hour, and I think it would be easy to estimate wrong and give too much propfol."

Rogers continued, "The problem Michael Jackson was having was that he couldn't sleep and it's not appropriate to give propofol in that situation."

The medical examiner also testified to Jackson's overall health at the time he died, revealing that he was in good shape. Rogers said that Jackson's overall health was good. Although he was extremely thin at only 136 pounds, his Body Mass Index was still in the normal range and his heart was healthy.

The 50-year-old Jackson was suffering from an enlarged prostate and vitiligo, Rogers said. He also had some chronic inflammation and swelling in his lungs as well as arthritis and a polyp on his colon. Jackson also had an extra rib, the medical examiner noted.

UPDATE:  Rogers stated, "I believe he was healthier than the average person of his age.”
