09-11-2007 Brussels Court Rules On "You Are Not Alone"
R. Kelly's soulful "You Are Not Alone," that rocketed to number one as sung by Michael Jackson, may have been originally penned by Belgian twins two year previously. This is the ruling of a Brussels court and reported by local media.
Therefore, all the authorial rights are to be switched to the brothers according to the court ruling that was handed down last week.
The composers have been in court for 12 years to gain recognition for the work. Judgment, however, is only applicable in Belgium and it will be no easy task for them to gather in royalties.
"You Are Not Alone" was the second single released off of the multi - platinum HIStory album released in August of 1995.
It was the first ever single to debut at number ONE on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
The twin composer - brothers said that the Belgian rights society, SABAM, confirmed that "the most important and largest part" of the hit is "identical" to their work.
